SSCD: Happy Dizzy

hopstial3Second brain surgery is a wrap.

It is never easy to see someone you love so deeply have to go through all this And yet, as a good friend Andrew told me:

There is no stress in faith.

We are definitely in a faith walk.

His hospital stay was once again, a great experience at UCLA and we are eternally grateful for Dr. Yang and Dr. Gopen. Here are some pics and video I snapped to show the journey of sweet Derek.  As he awakened, the messages from all of you, overwhelmed him with emotion and love.  For he had a stadium of people praying for him.  Believe me when I say, we have felt it every step of the way. Once he was able to, he read through all the videos, messages, on his phone and the out pouring of love from you all. I made sure to capture some pics, for it was emotional for him to read through it all. On top of it, his nursing staff was amazing. They made us laugh, cry and inspired us.

There is a time and place for meds.  They kept Derek very comfortable at the hospital and I was able to get some great video Derek.

Here was Derek walking.  Feeling good drugged up, and turn up the volume as he explains to his nurse his dizziness.  This is Derek: HAPPY DIZZY

 Dr. Yang and Dr. Gopen,

To the men who took the risk with us, THANK YOU! You are forever a part of our miracles!  And we can’t wait to share this story with the world to help MANY!

Leaving the hospital, we both couldn’t wait to get out. No offense to any of the staff, we are just NOT hospital people.  They drugged Derek up real well for the long drive back to the campground. Unfortunately it ended up being a 3.5 hour drive in traffic.

The drive home was VERY hard on Derek.

He literally passed out when I got him into the camper and slept for 5 hours.

I’m used to French Road – where a car comes by every hour.  Not LA traffic where you drive 10 miles an hour for 2 hours due to the sea of cars.

The long days of recovery are now upon us.

The “drug coma” is wore off, and today was a hard day for him.  Keep the prayers coming.  Andy Griffith is back on 24/7 today and Snickerdoodle is at his side!

This is my view. today  I”m a blessed woman to have such a man in my life. And I will relentlessly pray for his miracle to unfold.
